REVIEW EXCERPTS from John Green, AMAZON TOP 1000 REVIEWER, VINE™ VOICE
"...this was funny! And I don't just mean "heh, got in a good one" funny, more like "lol- they nailed it" funny...this is a YA parody there's no actual shagging going on, but...it's pretty comical! ...some very witty satire here...it'll put a smile on your face."

DESCRIPTION

Notice Risk meets risque in this occasionally saucy, though-no-one-actually-scores, parody. (Not that parents who let their kids read books as violent as "The Hunger Games" would care.) Phatness Evermean finds herself volunteering for the Games on Infinite Justice Day (slogan Sticking It To The Revolting Districts For Infinity) -- only to be partnered with clever Kneader Malarky. (You could almost believe he's a decent human being, if there was such a thing in PanAm.) Phatness trusts no one except perhaps, her hunting partner, Windy, and her Games stylist, Sinner. (Where would a girl be if she didn't have a stylist she could trust?)

Kneader turns out to be a boy to die for -- but the one person who really needs to understand this, hasn't got a clue. But, that Malarky boy is a sly one. He just may win Phatness's companionship...one way or another. (Watch out Phatness, you may be outmatched!)

Phatness exudes a busty appeal heretofore unknown to the Capitol District, adding an entirely new dimension to the H. Unger Games (named for the persnickety inventor of the Games, Helix Unger). There's no need for real arrows when cupid's are so much more accurate and just as deadly.

I got this during the free offering period and was kind of leery as to what it would be like. Shouldn't have worried- this was funny! And I don't just mean "heh, got in a good one" funny, more like "lol- they nailed it" funny. It's a Mel Brooks type of spoof, focused on one Phatness Evermean, resident of District 12 in PanAm (the nation, not the airline) and proud possessor of an impressive pair of DDDs. And she knows how to use 'em. That's actually a key point: since this is a YA parody there's no actual shagging going on, but you get lots of Benny Hill-style friskiness.

And it's pretty comical! This isn't fanfic by some geek in his mom's basement... well, they could be living there but I doubt it. There's some very witty satire here sprinkled with gratuitous T&A and violence, which all comes from lampooning the franchise.

It's a pretty quick read, and a fun one! It hits all the key franchise points and pounds on them until they cry 'uncle'. Unless you're a rabid fan of the franchise who won't tolerate dissent- or satire-, it'll put a smile on your face.

The HUnger Games Gone Wild A Parody edition by Lardyard Hampoon Sue Knott Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Loved this one. I haven't even read the originals, but everyone's obsession made me curious. This is great fun, and I found myself laughing a lot. Knott's writing style is entertaining and very sharp.
Sue Knott is a very talented writer, and this is the second book I have read of hers. (The first was Vampire The Transformation of Trinity Jones, if you're curious.)

The plot in this book is entertaining, I love the characters and settings, and the humor of it all. It's goofy and a bit over the top sometimes, but this story is written in such a clever and funny way that really brings it all together. Highly recommended!
i am very disappointed with this book. the first word that came to mind during the first chapter; Plagiarism. a certain amount of latitude is required to write a parody, but not this much
I loved the book ,and they should make catching fire gone wild and Mockingjay gone wild that would make my day I would recommend this book to any one thinking about getting it
This was a very short story but was so bad that I could not make it all the way through. I loved the hunger games and always like a well written parody but this was just awful. The person who wrote this was just trying to cash in on the books popularity. It is not worth your money and I still would not recommend if it was free.
Most of the book was pretty funny, yet every joke or humorous situation seemed to be based around the fact the Phatness has large breasts. It was funny the first few times, thinking about how the poor and unfortunate main character was so well endowed, but the author dragged it on much to far, and it got quite boring.
I read the product description, the sample, and the reviews. I realized this parody would have a "Benny Hill Show" vibe to it - risqué and definitely for mature audiences only - but still thought it would have some really funny (as in LOL) parts that aren't necessarily sexual in nature. So I went ahead and bought a copy. I chuckled a few times - it hit the nail right in the head with the references to commercialization and corporate sponsorships - but the humor in it was mostly immature. There were also references to cannibalism and skinning/scalping which I believe should have been edited out.

I rate it a 1 star because the entertainment value I got from the story is NOT worth $3.99. (If it were free or $0.99, at most, I'd give it 2 stars.)
